It is so important to do a quick check-in with yourself every so often. These can be so helpful and you may be surprised at how much you can take away this practice! I like to do self-reflections at the end of each month so that I can be intentional when setting my goals for the upcoming month. Here is a super simple list of questions you can utilize for your next mental-health check-in:
- What is the happiest I have been this month? The saddest?
- What have I been most grateful for in this month?
- What can I do to take care of myself more next month?
- What goal am I working towards right now? Am I still excited by the idea of it?
- What can I do to help and support those around me?
- What has stressed me out this month? Can I do anything to make it less stressful in the future?
- Have I been judging myself this month? How can I restructure my automatic thoughts?
- What does my perfect day look like? Can I adjust anything to make each day more like this?
- What would I do this month if I could not fail?
- What can I let go of to open myself up to something new this month?
The goal of these questions is two-fold; they help you to learn about your thought and behavior patterns and notice anything that may be hindering your potential each day. Similarly, self-reflection directly impacts your ability to be self-aware and recognize your purpose in the world. In practicing self-reflection, you will be more aware of and prepared to take on your goals with a curated focus on yourself and your dreams.
